"Come Clean" is a bit different from our other material, and different from any other song I've written so far. The song is about going through an emotional crisis and emerging as a new person. It's also about forgiveness and oblivion. I guess like most songwriters, I was inspired by a decisive period in my life.

What have you learned about the music business?

That if you're in it for the wrong motives you will probably be disappointed, and that it involves a great risk of becoming cynical.

What non-music skills do musicians need?

Social and networking skills, I guess. Sometimes I think you need a thick skin, and sometimes when I'm feeling cynical I think you need to be an egoist.

What’s the best thing about being in a band?

Friendship, self-expression, and beer. (Oops, that's three things!)

What’s your current favorite musical instrument, and why?

My Martin DM-28 acoustic guitar. I simply couldn't live without it. I swear I started to write better songs after I bought it.
