We played a Democratic National Committee rally for Howard Dean last year.
It was pretty poorly promoted, and no one was expecting music. There were
two drunken hippie-ish dudes dancing in the front row, and the rest of the
small crowd milled about awkwardly in the brightly-lit gymnasium-like
atmosphere. We were heckled by an annoying middle-aged woman halfway
through the set, who loudly begged us to "pick up the pace." We got paid
well though.
