good, bad & weird

Perth

True tales of gigs gone strange...

Perth
It was a disco next to a ski resort in France. We drove half a day in the snow to get there. The place was good to play at, but we thought, "Oh my God, these people look so weird!" The boss at this place told us to play even if there was nobody there — but it was so awful to play with just two guys in front of us, not even looking at us, but probably talking about skiing or girls or whatever. After 30 minutes, it was just not possible to play anymore. We tried to explain this to the boss, who told us: "Okay, just take your money and leave."

The Dude (guitarist) followed the boss to get the cash. We waited, but after 20 minutes the Dude still hadn't come back. Then Jeff (drummer) went to find the Dude…we waited and waited, and Jeff didn't come back either. So Fred (vocals, guitar) went to find Jeff, and I stayed alone with our ex-bassist Osvit. Nobody was coming back! And worst of all, the security guard was carrying two garbage bags! Osvit and I thought, "What the hell? They killed our three guys!!!"

Finally the Dude, Jeff, and Fred came back and explained that it was very strange inside. They followed a long corridor full of hundreds of bottles of whiskey arranged on shelves. The boss was waiting in the office, with his hands full of cash. We understood, maybe a bit late, that it was probably some kind of mafia setup. We just took our instruments and drove away as quickly as possible. Never again!
