April 2 - April 15

The Bird & the Bee, "I Hate Camera"
Inara George takes her songwriting to a new (brilliant) level with her latest project, the Bird & the Bee. For fans of Feist, Postal Service.

Alsace Lorraine, "Dulce et Decorum"
This quirky international collaboration project is pretty, a bit electronic, and occasionally dance-worthy. For fans of Helio Sequence, Blonde Redhead.

Born in the Flood, "In Debt to the Heart"
One of my favorite accidental SXSW finds, Born in the Flood occasionally brings to mind (in their more melodramatic moments) bands like Coldplay and U2, but I'm not saying that's who they sound like. Check them out.

The Black Angels, "Young Men Dead"
One of my other favorite accidental SXSW stumble-upons, the Black Angels are simply mesmerizing live - whether because of their light and video show, or their swirling, dark music, I couldn't really say. For fans of the Doors, Velvet Underground.

The Good, the Bad & the Queen, "History Song"
This new British super-group featuring Damon Albarn (Blur/Gorillaz), Paul Simonon (The Clash), and Simon Tong (The Verve) sound fresher than I'd expected, and apparently put on a really good show at SXSW.

Quarterstance, "Sturdy Chairs"
A nice, cute indie pop band from St. Paul, MN, who will catch you unawares with their sing-along hooks. For fans of Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie.

Pilot Speed, "Into Your Hideout"
This Toronto, Canada-based band is almost too sugary sweet, with their blatant U2 and Radiohead-influenced wailing. Almost. For fans of Copeland, Radiohead.

Foxtail Somersault, "Motionland"
From San Francisco, Foxtail Somersault is bringing back the pretty, etheral sounds of the early-90s shoegaze movement. For fans of Slowdive, Pale Saints.
